CODE BLUE SYSTEMS
Project Details
Code Blue Systems (CBS) is evolving the healthcare industry using blockchain and distributed ledger technology to improve facility management. CBS helps with medical record transparency and authenticity, resulting potentially in reduced malpractice and negligence claims. CBS can reduce times to settlement whilst building trust and transparency between provider and patient during highly emotional times. The average time for a medical negligence matter to be resolved in Australia is up to three years.
A disturbing trend that is emerging in Australia (and around the world) is a sharp rise in the deaths and injuries of patients at the hands of medical facilities and their professionals. Outdated systems are contributing to these deaths, as with a toxic culture well documented by government inquiries and private enterprises.
Problems
- a lack of trust and transparency between provider and patient;
- legacy systems that are contributing to real life incidents;
- excessive times to settle a claim, impacting on the lives of the plaintiff;
- poorly managed and outdated medical record management;
Background
CBS is an important project for one of the founders of Evynce who has been through the personal journey of something life threatening happening to him whilst under the care of the public health system. (2018-2019)
Outside of the physical and mental challenges that come from any medical trauma he has also experienced first hand the journey of making a claim of professional negligence against a hospital in the Supreme Court of New South Wales. (2019-2022)
Throughout the whole experience which included lengthy hospitalisations, multiple surgeries, complications and then the mental, physical and financial recovery, he also endured three years in court, resulting in an out of court settlement.
Scott has a deep first hand knowledge from the experience as a patient and plaintiff, whilst witnessing the defendants journey and tactics to reduce any such claim. During this journey he has met medical and legal professionals along with others similar to him that all agree, things will only get worse unless a collaborated approach and technology is used to streamline a system that is transparent, authentic and immutable.
